The James R. Mossie Banquet Hall can offer clients multiple options for use of the facility based on your type of event.
 

Although we currently can not provide in-house catering, we can provide recommendations for professional caters for you event who have proven to provide quality menu items customized for you event at a reasonable price.  Prefer your own caterer?  We can accommodate that too.  There are many ways to make your event unique and special.  Please review our offering and consult our General Manager with any questions.

Size of Hall and Capacity: The JRM Hall comprises approximately 3000SF and has a Fire Marshal restricted maximum capacity of 200 guests. Wedding Receptions/Anniversary Parties/Family Dinners that need a dance floor, the number of guests is limited to 180 guests. Fund Raising, such as Bingo's, and Corporate Training Events where rectangular tables are utilized and there is no need for a dance floor the maximum capacity is 200 guests.

In-House Catered Events: Unfortunately, not currently available.

 

Non-In-House Catered Events: The costs for a non-in-house catered event is based on an hourly rate for a minimum of 3 hours and a maximum of 5 hours. The rental rate of $175.00 per hour includes all required tables (up to 20 - 60” round tables or 25 - 30” x 96” rectangular tables) and chairs (up to 8 chairs per round table and up to 10 chairs per rectangular table).  An Event Manager will be assigned to assist the client in planning the event and will be on-site during the event to address any concerns. Outside caterers do not have access to out kitchen or refrigeration equipment for preparation or staging. If alcohol is to be served, there will be an additional charge for Service Counter Attendants (see below).

 

Special Events: The category of Special Events refers to various fund-raising activities for Not for Profit [501(C)(3)] organizations located within Upper Providence Township, Montgomery County. Organizations that qualify for the Special Event category are limited to one event per year and Special Events are limited to one event per calendar quarter. If a Not for Profit organization meets the requirements stated above, please consult with the General Manager for more details and to confirm eligibility. The rental cost for these events is $150.00 per hour. If alcohol is to be served, there will be an additional charge for Service Counter Attendants (see below).

 

Community Service Events: Home Owners Associations located within the first due response area of the Black Rock Volunteer Fire Company will be allowed the rent the Hall for a minimum of 3 hours for their annual meetings. The cost for this type pf rental is $125.00 per hour. These meetings are for discussion of Association business and not for fund raising or banquets.  Please consult with the General Manager for more details and to confirm eligibility.  

 

Alcohol Policy: Alcohol must be served by our PALCB Responsible Alcohol Management Program (RAMP) trained staff at a rate of $60 per Service Counter Attendant (SCA)/Bartender for the duration of the entire event. A minimum of two (2) SCA’s for up to 150 guests, one (1) additional SCA will be required for attendance over 150 guests. The Client is responsible for providing all beverages, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. A Bring Your Own Beverage (BYOB) option is available for specific types of events, but if the event is not classified as a BYOB, all alcohol must be served across the beverage counter by JRM staff.  Please consult with the General Manager for more details.

Smoking Policy: The James R. Mossie Hall is a non-smoking facility. Smoking is restricted to a designated area 50' from the main entrance. All smoking materials are to be disposed in the designated containers.

Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID 19): Until the COVID 19 restrictions are rescinded, there will be additional charges for sanitizing the facility post event and for a staff member to routinely sanitize common areas.
